Sandbag drop-off sites to close Thursday

Noosa residents planning to return their sandbags following Tropical Cyclone Alfred have until Thursday afternoon to take them to one of the Council drop-off points within the shire.

Drop-off points are located at:

• The boat ramp on Gympie Terrace, Noosaville.
• 183 Eumundi Noosa Road, Noosaville.

Council will reuse the sand to top dress lawns in Noosa’s public spaces.

Alternatively, residents can store the sandbags in a dry location, out of the sun, for use in the event of future severe weather events, or repurpose the sand for topdressing their own lawns and dispose of the bags responsibly.

To use the sand for topdressing, spread a thin layer (max 10mm) over the lawn.

Under no circumstances should residents dump the sand on local beaches as it is the wrong sand for the local eco system.
