Black Mountain


Location: Black Mountain Landslide

Project

Black Mountain Road:

In early September, the soil nail crew moved onto the installation of almost 70 anchor-like structures upslope, which is to further support the concrete structure.

The site continues to be highly constrained with piling rigs, cranes, soil nail rig, concrete trucks and general earthmoving equipment. For this reason, site access cannot be permitted for nonconstruction traffic, including during the Christmas shutdown period.

Cooran

Location: Schreibers Road

Project:

The reconstruction work near 269 Schreibers Road to replace the existing
culverts with a single-span bridge is being delivered in two stages.

It is anticipated Stage 1 works will be completed by the end of 2024, weather
permitting. Work on Stage 2 will start in early 2025.

The section of Schreibers Road near number 269 must be closed for the duration
of construction. The detour will remain in place and motorists should follow signage
and drive to the changed traffic conditions.

Cooroy

Location: Musa Vale Road

Project: Designs and tender documentation are being prepared to reconstruct the road edge on the single-lane section of Musa Vale Road, Cooroy. This section of road was damaged during a landslip caused by the major flooding event in February/March 2022.

The next steps of the project include:

  • design revision
  • design concept submission for QRA funding approval
  • final design development
  • invitation to tender
  • reconstruction of road asset.

Location: Noosa Main Beach Sand Break Seating

Project:

Council trialling a prototype sand break seat designed to help reduce the amount of sand accumulating on the boardwalk while also providing a comfortable spot to sit and take in the beautiful views of Noosa Main Beach.

We welcome community feedback on this initiative as we continue to explore ways to improve our shared spaces.

Location: Pathway and Bus Stop Upgrades

Project: Noosa Council is set to improve pedestrian and public transport infrastructure across Tewantin, Noosaville, and Sunshine Beach over the next two months. These upgrades will enhance community connectivity and accessibility while aligning with the Council’s Cycling and Walking Strategy to improve safety and well-being for pedestrians and cyclists

Start Date: March 2025

Duration: Two months, subject to weather and construction conditions.

Location: Goodchap Street

Project: Noosa Council is undertaking essential stormwater upgrade works on Goodchap Street in Noosaville. These works aim to improve stormwater management along the street, addressing long-standing drainage concerns and enhancing the resilience of local infrastructure. 

Duration: Work is scheduled to commence by the end of March and completed by mid-June 2025, subject to weather and construction conditions.

Peregian Beach

Location: Peregian Beach Square

Project: Maintenance and minor refurbishment work is underway at the Peregian Square Precinct to enhance safety, accessibility, and overall upkeep. This includes refreshing garden beds and lawns, trimming overhanging branches, and stormwater management. These efforts will help preserve green spaces, improve connectivity between the park and dining precinct, and ensure the area remains an enjoyable community hub. 

During construction, some sections of the square may be temporarily closed. While noise, dust and minor disruptions are expected, efforts will be made to minimise inconvenience. Construction will take place from Monday to Friday between 6.30am and 5.00pm.

Duration: Works to commence late April 2025 (after the school holidays) and take approximately six weeks to complete, subject to weather and construction conditions.

Sunrise Beach

Location: Heathland Drive

Project: Contractors will soon commence height and width clearance work on Heathland Dr.

The work will be undertaken during the day between 6.30am and 6.30pm.

Start Date: 8 April 2025

Duration: Completion expected by 10 April 2025, subject to weather, contractor availability and site conditions.

Location: David Low Way

Project: Contractors will soon commence work on replacing the existing retaining wall along David Low Way in Sunrise Beach. 

Situated adjacent to 56 David Low Way and about 200 metres south of the Orealla Crescent Bridge, the aging timber retaining wall has reached the end of its service life and will be upgraded to a durable concrete structure.

The work will be undertaken during the day between 7.00am and 6.00pm.

Start Date: Early March 2025

Duration: Three months, subject to weather and construction conditions.

Sunshine Beach

Location: Ed Webb Park Upgrade - Stage 2

Project: The Ed Webb Park upgrade is bringing new life and enhanced safety to Sunshine Beach, a favourite destination for locals and visitors alike. The project is thoughtfully designed to improve accessibility, community infrastructure and landscaping. Additionally, erosion control and stormwater management will be enhanced to strengthen the park’s resilience against natural elements, helping preserve the beauty and functionality of the park for years to come.

Due to funding constraints, the Ed Webb Park upgrade will be delivered across three stages.

  • Stage 1: Completed July 2024. This phase enhanced the Belmore Terrace pathway and boardwalk, creating safer pedestrian access and improved connectivity.
  • Stage 2: Scheduled March to July 2025, this phase will focus on upgrades to infrastructure and improving erosion controls.
  • Stage 3: Future projects will enhance park amenities and public spaces, contingent on funding and stakeholder input.

Location: Sunshine Beach Skate Park

Works: Council will soon commence maintenance works at the Sunshine Beach Skate Park located next to the Noosa Aquatic Centre on Girraween Court.

The work will be undertaken during the day between the hours of 6.30am and 6.30pm. 

The skate park facility will be CLOSED for the duration of the works.

Duration:  Work is scheduled to commence on the3rd March 2025 with works expected to be completed in 3 weeks, subject to weather and construction conditions.

Project Update on 20 March 2025: Due to weather conditions these works have been extended a further week with the park reopening 28  Mar 25.

Location: Edwards St

Works: Contractors will soon commence height and width clearance tree work on Edwards St, Sunshine Beach.

The work will be undertaken during the day between the hours of 9.00am and 2.00pm. 

Duration: Work is scheduled to commence on the 15th April 2025 with completion expected by 16th April 2025, subject to weather and construction conditions.

Pinbarren

Location: Upper Pinbarren Creek Road

Project details:

Contractors have started work to undertake flood reconstruction on nine sites from 376 to 516 Upper Pinbarren Creek Road. These works will help provide long-term stabilisation of the road.

Construction will generally be completed between Monday and Saturday, 6.30am 6.30pm.

Start date: July 2024.

Duration: Six months, subject to weather and contruction conditions.
