Older residents are important to our region representing 27.9% (QLD average 17%) of the population within our community. We acknowledge the important role older people play and recognise their contributions to the local fabric of the Noosa community. Our region offers many services, programs, and activities to help our residents age well.

Living Well Seniors

Living Well Seniors offers a range of low-cost activities for over 65’s (50 years and over for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples) to encourage individuals to be healthy and active.

  • seniorsMy Aged Care is the starting point to access Australian Government-funded aged care services. If you have aged care needs or concerns the Australian Government’s My Aged Care service can assist you with information and support to find appropriate services that meet your needs.

    Call My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 between 8am and 8pm weekdays or Saturdays 10am to 2pm.

    The call centre staff will ask you a range of questions to form a picture of your needs and care arrangements.

    You are welcome to have a family member, friend or carer there to support you. Services are available for people aged 65 years and over (or 50 years and over for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people).

    You will be provided with a unique identification number for future reference. The call centre staff will discuss options with you which may include being referred for a Home Support Assessment or Comprehensive Assessment. Contact My Aged Care.

     

  • Noosa Seniors provides a great way for seniors to connect.  We offer centre-based wellness and reablement activities, hinterland activities, personal care, house cleaning, transport assistance, shopping & social support, minor home maintenance & modifications and much more.

    Noosa Seniors offers specialised support for older, frail people, persons with dementia.  We know that seeking care and support for yourself or a loved one can be daunting, challenging and, at times, overwhelming. The first thing you need to know is that you are not alone on this journey. 

    Our highly experienced staff are ready to explore with you ways that enhance independence and enables people to remain living within the community.

    The service is available to people residing in the Noosa Shire, who are aged over 65 years (50 years and over for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people).

    Noosa Seniors values the diversity within communities and we provide inclusive services to eligible people.  We also know that it can be difficult to make choices when you are financially and/or socially disadvantaged so our team are always ready to explore options that fit your circumstances.

  • Home Library Service – We deliver to youseniors

    Are you someone who finds it difficult to get to the library?

    Noosa Library Service offers a free bespoke delivery service to housebound members of the community. We can select and deliver books and other library materials based on your needs and preferences.

    Loans for Aged Care Facilities

    Noosa Library Service provides bulk loans of library materials to aged care facilities throughout the region. These loans are tailored to the needs of residents and are swapped periodically throughout the year.

    Help with technologyseniors

    Noosa Library Service has developed a range of programs to suit our own community, including introductory sessions in a variety of areas such as using smartphones and staying safe online.

    Most sessions are aimed at beginners wanting to gain basic skills and confidence. The Next Steps classes are for those who want to have a go at trying things out once they have gained confidence.

    Adult Literacy Program

    Noosa Libraries offers free one-on-one tutoring in English reading, writing, spelling, speaking and numeracy. This takes place at Cooroy and Noosaville libraries at flexible times and days. We also host a weekly informal English conversation group, where people from a non-English-speaking background can practise speaking and listening skills and make new friends, while learning about Aussie culture. Noosaville Library: 1.30-3.30 Wednesdays during school term time.

  • Affordable transport is available in the Noosa region for:

    • people aged 60 and overFlexilink
    • people with a disability, including people with a mobility impairment (DSP concession card holders)
    • carers and minors of eligible people accompanying them (carers card or companion card holders).
