Avoid the traffic with Noosa's Free Holiday Buses

Back

Jump aboard Noosa’s Free Holiday Buses to beat the traffic this festive season.

Travel will be free on local Noosa Sunbus services 626, 627, 628, 629 and 632 from Boxing Day to January 4.

And a free temporary shuttle will operate between Noosa Heads and Peregian Beach.

The Boreen Point Flexilink service and Noosa Council Cabs services will also be free from Boxing Day to January 4 (normal booking procedures apply).

Santa joined Noosa Councillors to launch the Christmas Free Holiday Bus service today at one of Noosa’s award-winning new bus shelters.

“With six-hour parking available at the Noosa Junction transit centre, it’s a great spot to park and then catch the free holiday bus to Hastings Street,” Cr Ingrid Jackson said.

“The free services encourage people, who would usually drive, to take the bus, which means fewer vehicles on our roads,” she said.

“It helps ease traffic congestion and demand for parking at our busy precincts.

“More than 35,500 people boarded the Free Holiday Buses last Christmas, so it’s a popular initiative with both residents and visitors,” Cr Jackson said.

Regular services, that are free:

  • Route 626 - Tewantin to Sunrise Beach via Noosa Heads
  • Route 627 - Tewantin to Sunshine Beach via Noosa Heads
  • Route 628 - Noosa Parklands to Noosa Junction via Noosa Civic
  • Route 629 - Tewantin  to Noosa Junction via Noosa Civic
  • Route 632 – Noosa to Cooran via Cooroy and Pomona

Additional temporary service:

  • Route 064 - between Peregian Beach and Noosa Heads. For residents living between Peregian Beach and Noosa, instead of catching Route 620, the temporary service, Route 064 (operated by Sunbus) is for you.

Council delivers the Free Holiday Bus initiative in cooperation with Sunbus and TransLink.

Meanwhile, routes 620, 622, 630 and 631 will have normal fares.

Generally, a weekend timetable will operate on most public holidays with most services terminating around 7pm, so be sure to check timetables at TransLink's website or call 13 12 30 anytime.
