Personal Resilience Workshop - Reflecting on Experiences
Join us on Thursday afternoon, for a community-led workshop designed to create a reflective space where residents can share their personal experiences and insights in coping with recent disasters.
This workshop aims to facilitate meaningful discussions, allowing participants to express their thoughts and feelings while connecting with others who have faced similar challenges.
Workshop Focus: In this session, we will:
-
Reflect on individual experiences following natural disasters, inviting participants to share their personal stories and the valuable lessons they’ve learned to help their recovery and resilience.
-
Examine key challenges collectively, focusing on how these experiences have shaped and strengthened our community.
-
Highlight opportunities for growth and gather insights from community members to enhance our collective resilience.
Facilitation: The workshop will be facilitated by
Dr. Jean Renouf, founder and CEO of Plan C, an academic at Southern Cross University, a local firefighter, and a former international aid worker with 15 years of experience in disaster and conflict zones. His expertise will guide our discussions, ensuring they are productive and reflective. Representatives from Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service (Disaster Recovery), Ange (Recovery and Resilience Officer), and Julia our local social worker will also be present to offer support and insights.
Creating a Supportive Environment:
We aim to establish a safe and supportive environment where everyone feels comfortable sharing their experiences. By listening to one another, we can better understand the collective journey of our community and work together to connect individuals with the right supports.
