Hop on a free bus these Easter holidays

Take advantage of all Noosa has to offer these holidays with the return of Noosa Council’s Go Noosa Holidays transport options. 

The Go Noosa transport initiatives are set to return for Easter.

All Translink buses that operate solely in the Noosa Shire area will be free from April 2 to 18. To supplement the Translink buses, the temporary route 064 servicing Peregian Beach to Noosa Heads is back, along with the Go Noosa Loop Bus.

Noosa Mayor Clare Stewart said the popular 065 Go Noosa Loop Bus is a great way to travel into Noosa Heads from Noosa Junction, Weyba Road and Noosa Parade, without having to search for a carpark.

The 065 Loop Bus will run from the Noosa AFL Grounds every 15 minutes between 7am and 7pm and every 30 minutes from 7pm until 10pm.

“Traffic controllers will also help prioritise buses and pedestrians in Noosa Heads.

“You could catch the 064 to travel between Peregian Beach and Noosa Heads or hop on the 632 to travel out to Pomona and Cooran,” Cr Stewart said.

“It’s a great opportunity to explore our beautiful hinterland. You could walk one of the trails, visit the Pomona markets or stop in and have lunch at one of the many great dining venues.

“With fuel costs skyrocketing, it’s even more of a reason to leave the car at home and catch a free bus.”

Park and Ride will be available again including long-stay car parking at three locations (AFL Football grounds on Weyba Rd, Noosa Junction - The J, and Noosa Junction Transit Centre).

Mayor Clare Stewart said stress-free holiday travel can happen on the water too.

“Discounted frequent traveller passes for Noosa Ferry are available, which allow residents and visitors to make a few stops in Tewantin, Noosaville and Hastings Street,” she said.

And with nice temperatures for getting active, don’t forget the simple pleasures of walking and cycling to get around Noosa. Our pathways allow a pace that reflect Noosa’s relaxed lifestyle.

Cr Stewart said, “Noosa locals and visitors have been embracing the Go Noosa program and the range of car-free options since 2018, with over 900,000 passenger trips taken on the Free Go Noosa Holiday uses. We’re looking forward to breaking the 1 million passengers soon.”

The Go Noosa initiatives were recently expanded to include a 12-month trial of providing free local buses every weekend. The 626, 627, 628, 629 and 632 free weekend services will recommence on Saturday April 23, ready for the ANZAC Day and Labour Day long weekends.

“This makes getting around Noosa on buses free for more than 140 days this year.

“The free buses are really making a difference and it’s even easier to spend less time in the car and more time at the beach and exploring Noosa’s waterways and towns.

“The Go Noosa program is becoming synonymous with Noosa and holiday periods throughout the year.

“Once again, we’re delighted to partner with Translink this Easter,” Cr Stewart said.
