Free food handler training in December

Back

Council is holding a free training session in December to educate food handlers about safe food handling practices.

The free session, on Tuesday 11 December from 10am - 1pm at Council’s offices in Tewantin, is aimed at people who currently work in, or who want to work in, the hospitality or food production industries in Noosa Shire.

Council’s Environmental Health Officer Lorena Miralles said the training sessions are a good introduction on food safety matters relating to compliance in food businesses.

“We also do a little exercise with a glitter bug kit to test the effectiveness of our hand cleaning and hygiene in a fun way.”

“Whoever attends will get an attendance certificate and a kit of resources for the business and for themselves.”

The session is geared towards encouraging a food safety culture through building knowledge of safe food handling practices and an understanding of the responsibilities associated with handling food.

Both businesses and food handlers have legal obligations to ensure food is handled safely.

To book into the free food handler training session call Council on 5329 6500.
