Council's Capital Works Program is progressing well.

These include the $2.33 million Lawnville Road Bridge renewal at Black Mountain, an Arkana Drive slope stabilisation project at Noosa Heads, Noosa Leisure Centre bathroom upgrades and the Noosa Waters Lock and Weir renewal.

Mayor Clare Stewart said Council was about to call for tenders on a range of major projects including the Peregian Beach Skate Park upgrade and a refurbishment of the toilet facilities at Noosa Heads Lions Park, while a tender was recently awarded for the renewal of Garth Prowd Bridge.

“The project will ensure this critical asset within Noosa’s road and pedestrian network continues to serve our community well for many more years to come,” Cr Stewart said.

A host of roads across the shire have been resealed over the past three months including Gibson Road Noosaville, Olivine Street Cooroy and Charles Street at Cooran, as the annual reseal program continues tracking well.

“So far this year we’ve carried out around $2.9 million of reseal work – more than half of the $5 million budgeted for reseal work this financial year,” the Mayor said.

“Meanwhile, we’ve completed more than $900,000 worth of work so far under this year’s $1.5 million heavy patching program with upgrades to a host of hinterland roads.”

Black Mountain Road, Cooran’s Brewers Road, Mary River Road Cooroy, Sister Tree Creek Road and Doctor Pages Road at Kin Kin and Binalong Road Pinbarren are among roads upgraded under this program.

A host of pathway upgrades are slated for the second half of the year, including Kauri and Elm Streets at Cooroy, Cullinane and Doonella Streets at Tewantin and Main Street Kin Kin.

Our capital program is tracking well, with 33% of the budget spent - or $16.9 million worth of work complete – and funds committed for a further $5.8 million worth of projects,” Cr Stewart said.

“In addition, we have high confidence in the delivery of another $26.7 million worth of projects in the balance of the financial year, bringing total expenditure to $43.6 million for 23/24, due to large project commitments.”

Council’s 2023/24 Capital Program includes $51.3 million worth of projects, including those carried over from last year.

“So, this a huge year for our Infrastructure Services team,” Cr Stewart said.

“Within the team, our design staff are working on 62 projects this year, with a combined design and construction value of $18.5 million.

“In addition to the capital program we have 73 multi-year projects in various stages of completion.

“Our Infrastructure Services Team is delivering all of this while we continue to tackle $127 million worth of Queensland Reconstruction Authority-funded recovery projects, stemming from the February 2022 Noosa floods.
