Noosa Council has been awarded Local Government Workcare’s Bronze Award (missing the Silver Award by just one point) after an audit in May confirmed that the Council has fully compliant systems.

Will Burgess-Dean, Council’s Manager of People and Culture said, “This is a significant achievement and one that the whole organisation can be proud of.

“The external auditor specifically congratulated Noosa Council for having one of the largest improvements in WHS he has ever seen a Council achieve over a 2-year period. The Council was also commended for its industry-leading WH&S housekeeping practices, and the leadership demonstrated in achieving this result.”

“It has been very much a whole-of-organisation effort. But when it comes to people’s safety, there is always more work to do. We are committed to remaining vigilant and to implementing further improvements for the continued health and safety of our 400 plus staff members.”

CEO Brett de Chastel added, “We’ve gone from being one of the worst performing councils of our size in terms of Workplace, Health and Safety, to now being one of the best. That’s a terrific achievement by staff, and I want to commend them all.”
