Budget delivers new Peregian Beach toilet block

Council has heard the Peregian Beach community’s call for new public toilets, says Mayor Tony Wellington.

$350,000 in Council’s 2018/19 budget will deliver a major upgrade of the Kingfisher Drive facilities.

The Mayor said Council would soon be consulting with the community on the design for the new amenities block.

“The plans will include baby change tables plus a greater number of toilets than are there now. This facility needs to cater for the influx of people to Peregian Beach at holiday season and on weekends, as well as for the local markets and events such as Peregian Originals,” the Mayor said.

“We’ll make the plans available for comment once consultants have put their final touches on the draft design. We aim to finish construction by June 30 next year.

“The Peregian Beach community has been asking for Council to upgrade these facilities for some time, so I’m delighted to confirm funding for this project in our 2018/19 budget.”
