$3.8M boost for Noosa Community Support
Noosa Mayor Tony Wellington has welcomed $3.8M from the Federal Government to continue Council’s delivery of support services to frail and aged residents.
The cash will allow Council’s Noosa Community Support (NCS) to provide in-home and other support services for eligible over-65s through to June 30, 2020.
“In the past year, NCS has answered the call for services such as personal care, respite, transport, allied health and home maintenance requests more than 30,000 times,” the Mayor said.
“The Federal Government’s decision to renew our funding for another two years is most welcome. I am sure the continuation of this important community service will provide some peace of mind to NCS’s many clients and their carers.”
The Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) provides more than 70% of Noosa Community Support’s annual funding.
With further funding from the State to cover services for under-65s, plus the Home Assist Secure Program, NCS meets the needs of more than 6000 frail and aged clients annually.
Noosa Council has been delivering frail and aged care services to the community for over 20 years.
Some of the other services NCS offers include counselling/support, information and advocacy, centre-based day care and carer support.
