Council to adopt budget at July 6 Special Meeting
Noosa Council is set to adopt its 2018/19 budget on July 6.
Mayor Tony Wellington said Council was working through the State Government’s new waste levy and rebate as well as confirming new recycling costs.
“These will have financial implications for the year ahead so it’s important that we incorporate these into our modelling before we finalise the budget,” the Mayor said.
Council staff are finalising negotiations on the cost of recycling with contractor Visy following major changes to the industry, driven by China’s recent foreign waste ban.
“We have until August 1 to adopt our 2018/19 budget under the Local Government Act, which allows us the time to get the budget right, with all the information to hand.”
Council’s 2018/19 budget adoption Special Meeting starts at 9.30am at Council’s Tewantin Chambers on July 6.
