National Volunteer Week brings out the Trail Fairies
Have you ever been for a mountain bike ride on the trails around Noosa or been to the Wooroi day-use area to ride through the woods there?
If so, perhaps you’ve seen the trail fairies.
Legend has it that the domestic fairies that used to clean up after you as a child moved to the forest when you left home. Now they maintain the local mountain bike trials, to try to keep them safe and fun to ride.
In breaking news the trail fairies have been caught on camera for the first time. National Volunteer Week has brought them out into the open and you can catch a sneak peek at the wonderful work these volunteering fairies do. Just visit Noosa Council’s YouTube channel – Noosa Council TV.
Six short films about the trail fairies and other volunteers around our local community have been made to celebrate National Volunteers Week this week.
Each day during National Volunteer Week (May 21 to 27) Council will release another short film on its Facebook page, to showcase a community group and its volunteers.
You can watch the films one at a time as they’re released, or visit Noosa Council TV on YouTube to view them all.

Council teamed up with local film-maker Klaus Horner, who gave his time voluntarily to make the short films.
Community Development Manager Alison Hamblin says the films show how much work our community members do for each other.
“We have over 300 community groups in our shire,” she said.
“Many people may not realise the amount of work our local volunteers do – they run the sports clubs, tidy local bushland and look after the poor and the underprivileged.
“It’s just lovely that these films will shine a light, during National Volunteer Week, on our local volunteers’ enormous contribution to the local community,” Alison said.
Council would like to thank Klaus Horner for producing the short films, the community groups and their volunteers that participated enthusiastically in making the short films.
