Jumpstarting Heart Week

Back

To celebrate Heart Week Council has sponsored 50 volunteers from local community groups to receive potentially life-saving first aid training.

It’s the second year in a row Council has sponsored the first aid training, with the initiative proving a big hit with Noosa’s hard-working community groups.

“We’ve had an overwhelming response from local groups, which welcome the chance to train up their members,” says Council’s Community Development Manager Alison Hamblin.

“From sports groups to arts groups, nominations arrived very quickly. The training is a great way for community groups to give back to their volunteers.”

Coast Guard trainer Jon Symonds facilitated the training.

“The Coast Guard’s new training facility was the perfect venue to host the training, and they even provided their facilitator,” Ms Hamblin said.

“Community groups are the lifeblood of our shire, their members come in to contact with lots of people each week so ensuring they have the skills to help out in an emergency is an important investment by Council.”
