Join Helen Garner in conversation at The J in June

Celebrated Australian author Helen Garner comes to The J for a night of conversation in June.

The much-loved author will share an intimate retrospective of her writing life that spans more than four decades.

An award-winning novelist, storyteller, screenwriter and non-fiction author, Helen Garner is one of Australia’s most important and most admired writers.

“Literary buffs will need to act quickly to secure a place at the June 21 event as seats will fill fast,” says Library Programs Officer Liz Bleechmore.

“She is revered for her fearless honesty in the pursuit of her craft and is always a fascinating speaker.

"We are thrilled she accepted our invitation to come and spend an evening with her Noosa fans, in conversation with ABC Radio’s Annie Gaffney,” says Ms Bleechmore.

Garner received the inaugural Melbourne Prize for Literature In 2006.

Her 2008 novel The Spare Room, earned her the Victorian Premier’s Literary Award for Fiction, the Queensland Premier’s Award for Fiction and the Barbara Jefferis Award.

This House of Grief was named Best True Crime book in the 2015 Ned Kelly Awards and in 2016, Helen Garner was awarded the Windham-Campbell Prize for Non-Fiction.

Although Helen won’t be available to sign books at the event, Annie’s Books on Peregian will have pre-signed copies available for purchase.

The event will be held at The J, 60 Noosa Drive, Noosa Heads. Doors open at 6.10pm for a 6.30pm start. Cost is $17 per person. Bookings essential. Book via The J's website or by phone on (07) 5329 6560.
