More than $30,000 for the arts in latest RADF grant round

Noosa Council has announced more than $30,000 for the arts in the latest round of Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) grants.

Six local arts projects are set to receive funding, including Florence Teillet’s theatre project Stories of Displacement. The series of short plays focus on Noosa as a place of movement – both arrivals and departures – and a place of a refuge, peace and new beginnings.

The thought-provoking project, Ms Teillet says, raises important questions for the future of healthy communities.

This grant round also supports another theatre work, a riverside Wind in the Willows production, to be performed next year.

An outdoor environment-themed art exhibition is also among the funded projects.

A project that will tie in with one of Noosa's key events is called arts-InSIT-U : INTERACT. RADF Chair, Councillor Jess Glasgow, explained that, "It’s a series of outdoor sound and light art installations. These interactive art installations will form part of the Noosa Alive festival program.”

"The Regional Arts Development Fund is a partnership between the Queensland Government and Noosa Council to support local arts and culture in regional Queensland."

The Queensland Government is contributing $2.08 million to the 2017-18 RADF partnership.

“Since 2014 the RADF program has provided $142,885 to assist more than 38 creative projects in Noosa,” Cr Glasgow said.
