Lyn McCrea Drawing Prize finalists announced
The Noosa Regional Gallery and the 2017 Lyn McCrea Selection Committee are pleased to announce 30 finalists for the Lyn McCrea Memorial Drawing Prize.
Dedicated to the memory of local contemporary visual artist, art educator and collector, the late Lyn McCrea, the national award promotes excellence in contemporary Australian drawing.
Noosa Regional Gallery Coordinator, Nicole Maggs said “There has been a wonderful response for the drawing prize this year, and the Gallery is looking forward unveiling the finalists’ works to the public very soon."
The finalists are: Pauline Adair, Kym Barrett, Zela Bissett, Kerry Blackwell,Peter Breen, Pat Cale, Glenise Clelland, Robert Clinch, Jim Cox, Nicole Crosswell, Janice Dunlop,Wendy Epp, Ken Horton, Helen Lawson, Michelle Maclennan, Deb Mostert, Jane Parker, Alan Pirie, Beatrice Prost, Trevor Purvis, Jan Rae, Agnieszka Ragankiewicz Wyspianska, Phil Rolton, Michael Simms, Kym Tabulo, Greer Townshend, Sam Vatovey, Pam Walpole, Marg Watt and Angelique Wavés.
The 2017 pre-selection panel comprised: Dr. Jude Roberts and Dr Christine Kirkegard.
The 2017 prize winner will be determined by guest judge Kevin Wilson, Curator, QUT Art Museum.
The overall prize winner will be awarded a $3,000 non-acquisitive cash prize donated by John McCrea. The People's Choice Prize of $1000 sponsored by Friends Noosa Regional Gallery will be drawn Sunday 19 November at11am.
The Gallery will announce the winning artwork at the official opening Saturday 21 October from 5pm.
The Lyn McCrea Memorial Drawing Prize will be on show at Noosa Regional Gallery from Friday 20 October until Sunday 26 November, 2017.
Everyone is welcome to attend the opening launch which is being held at 5pm on Saturday 21 October, 2017.
