Council welcomes Federal cash for major local bridge upgrades
Noosa Council has secured $2.46M from the Federal Government toward three major bridge upgrades.
Mayor Tony Wellington today welcomed the Federal Government’s contribution.
“To receive funds for all three bridge projects is a major win for ratepayers. Council appreciates this investment by the Federal Government in our local infrastructure,” the Mayor said.
The Bridge Renewal Program funding includes $663,429 to replace Cooroy’s Mary River Road Bridge, $922,256 to upgrade the Orealla Crescent Bridge at Sunrise Beach and $875,000 to replace the Old Noosa Road Bridge at Cooran.
Council will match the funding 50/50.
Council’s Infrastructure Services Director Carl Billingham said Council would finalise the funding agreement with the Federal Government, as well as project details and timing, in the next few weeks.
