Council will accept applications for the next round of Community Project Grants and the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) from Monday, 21 August 2017.

“Community Project Grants help fund eligible not for profit community organisations with a range of projects and programs plus cultural, community and sporting events that bring residents together,” Council’s Community Development Manager Alison Hamblin said.

The grants, allocated through a competitive assessment process twice a year, can also help fund building works or repairs to local facilities.

“Community Project Grants, now in their eighth round, have supported a wide range of initiatives since 2014.

“These include the successful Noosa International Film Festival and the Noosa Alive! Young Artists Program,” Ms Hamblin said.

“These grants have also provided equipment that has allowed the Noosa Men’s Shed to introduce leatherworking. They’ve helped fund permanent spectator seating for Pomona and Cooran Amateur Rugby League Football Club, and cash for environment groups to carry out a wide range of projects,” Ms Hamblin said.

Councillor Jess Glasgow, Chair of the RADF committee, said RADF grants can provide one-off financial assistance for a range of eligible arts and cultural projects to individual artists and eligible not-for-profit community organisations.

“Since 2014 the Noosa Council RADF program has provided more than $100,000 to assist more than 20 local creative projects,” Cr Glasgow said.

“Projects have included art and performance installations, art workshops, and projects that employ emerging or established artists or arts workers. Funding priorities for this round include Arts + Environment and Arts Outside (arts in non-traditional spaces).”

Queensland Premier and Arts Minister Annastacia Palaszczuk said RADF delivered on the Queensland Government’s commitment to foster diverse and inclusive communities, grow strong regions and provide training, education, and employment opportunities for Queenslanders.

“This funding promotes the role and value of arts, culture and heritage as key drivers of inclusive communities and strong regions and ensures Queenslanders can engage with arts locally,” said the Premier.

“Each year around 500,000 people are involved in RADF projects as practitioners, participants or audience members,” she said.

The Regional Arts Development Fund is a partnership between the Queensland Government and Noosa Council to support local arts and culture in regional Queensland.

Applicants have until noon, 22 September 2017, to lodge both Community Project Grant and RADF applications.
