New culverts to help boost Kinmond Creek Road flood immunity

Motorists should expect minor delays on Kinmond Creek Road, Cootharaba, from July 2017, as work to replace culvert structures at the Sandy Creek and Eastern Branch Creek crossings begins.

Council’s Project Officer Jaro Bauleka said the $1.76 million project would improve the road’s flood immunity and enable Council to lift the road’s current eight-tonne load limit.

The road, near the creek crossings, will be reduced to one lane while work is underway, with traffic control officers or temporary traffic lights in place to manage traffic flow.

“Work will take around 24 weeks to complete. In a win for ratepayers we’ve managed to keep the cost of this project down by sourcing construction materials from Council’s own Ringtail Creek Quarry,” Mr Bauleka said.

“Any traffic delays should be minor, but Council apologises in advance for any inconvenience.”
