Council has appointed a new project officer to lead its zero emissions project.

Annie Nolan brings a wealth of experience to the role, having helped other large organisations achieve carbon neutrality.

Locally Ms Nolan worked on the Sunshine Coast Airport carbon neutral project.  She also developed sustainability and energy efficiency initiatives at TAFE sites. What’s more, she has taught students studying for their Diploma of Sustainability.

“I’m excited to help implement Noosa Council’s vision and its strategy to achieve zero emissions by 2026,” she said.

Ms Nolan will implement strategies to reduce all of Council’s emissions, with a major focus on energy reduction in Council’s major buildings.

“As well as the environmental benefits, reducing energy makes good business sense because it saves the organisation money,” she said.

Mayor Tony Wellington welcomed Ms Nolan’s appointment.

“Annie not only holds a degree in Environmental Science and a Master’s Degree in Sustainability, but she has a great wealth of practical experience she can put to good use at Council,” he said.

“Annie will ensure Council continues to build on the work already underway across the organisation to help us achieve our goal of being carbon neutral by 2026,” he said.

Council has adopted a Zero Emissions Strategy to slash its net emissions to zero by 2026.
