Have your say on future use of the Noosaville foreshore
Council is calling on the community to have a say on future use of the Noosa River foreshore at Noosaville.
Work has begun on a master plan for the Gympie Terrace foreshore to guide how the area is used.
“As its popularity continues to grow, we must strike a balance between recreational uses, commercial activities, events and community uses so that the amenity of the Noosaville foreshore is retained for future generations,” says Council’s Property Manager, Clint Irwin.
“If we don’t get that balance right, we risk losing the character and charm that makes this much loved community asset so special.”
Council has appointed consultant Place Design Group to develop a land use master plan, in consultation with the community.
Information ‘pop-ups’, workshops, and an online portal are among the ways the community will be able to have a say.
The first round of consultation opens to the public next week.
“This is not about redesigning the area, or making changes to the infrastructure along the foreshore, but rather managing uses in line with the community’s needs.
“We’ll also be talking to commercial operators, jetty leaseholders, park users, the yacht club and various other stakeholder groups with an interest in this area,” said Mr Irwin.
“The result will be a plan shaped by the community.”
The Noosaville Foreshore Land Use Masterplan project will be launched on Council’s Your Say Noosa website on April 26.
