Peregian Beach road improvements to boost pedestrian safety

Council is carrying out work on David Low Way at Peregian Beach to make it safer for pedestrians.

Work will start April 18 and will take at least a week.

Cr Brian Stockwell said Council would do the work at night to minimise traffic delays.

“We’ll divert traffic along Peregian Esplanade on nights when construction work is underway,” he said.

Council will raise the pedestrian crossing north of the Heron Street roundabout, to improve safety by slowing down vehicle traffic.

“We will also be constructing a pedestrian refuge to the north of the Heron Street roundabout to further improve safety for pedestrians crossing the road,” Cr Stockwell said.

“Once finished, this work will provide a safer link between the eastern side of David Low Way and the future community house, new open space, veggie village, new digital hub and kindy on the western side of the road.”

Cr Stockwell said Council had listened to the community’s concerns about pedestrian access and safety.

“We intend to complete the work within a week, weather permitting. We appreciate motorists’ patience while the work is underway.”
