Have a say, this week, on Noosa's draft Transport Strategy
There is still time to have a say on Noosa’s Draft Transport Strategy.
Residents can comment on the document at this week’s consultation pop-ups, at Noosaville Library, Pomona and Hastings Street.
Project Officer Joanna Ferris said Council was keen to hear residents’ ideas on the six key initiatives outlined in the Draft Noosa Transport Strategy 2017-2027.
Temporary park-and-ride shuttle services for peak periods, plus a high-frequency trial shuttle bus, servicing stops from Tewantin to Sunshine Beach are among the initiatives proposed.
The strategy also calls for an in-depth look at a possible congestion charge for vehicles entering Hastings Street during peak periods.
Paid parking at congestion hotspots during peak periods, with possible exceptions for residents, is also proposed. As is the use of priority transport lanes and a new Active Travel to Schools Program to help reduce the number of parents driving their children to and from the school gate.
Staff will be on hand at Noosaville Library on Thursday, April 6, from 9am-10:30am; outside the newsagent at Pomona from 8am-12noon on Saturday, April 8; and at the Hastings Street bus interchange on Sun, April 9 from 9am-12 noon.
Project officer Joanna Ferris encouraged residents to come along and provide feedback, with each of the pop-ups held so far attracting a lot of interest.
“It’s been great to collect feedback from the many people who’ve stopped to talk to us at the recent Cooroy, Noosa Junction, and Noosa Farmers Market information days,” she said.
Residents can also read, and comment on, the draft strategy, as well as participate in a survey, online, at Council’s YourSay Noosa website.
Council will also accept feedback via email. For more information, call (07) 5329 6500.
