'Puppy love' storytelling at Noosaville Library

In the lead up to Valentine’s Day, Noosa Library Service is hosting a special family “Puppy Love” storytelling event this Saturday 11 February at the Noosaville Library at 10am.

‘Puppy Love’ is one of many Story Trail events planned for 2017 as part of the First 5 Forever family literacy program funded by State Library of Queensland.

To show appreciation to our four legged friends, there will be storytelling for younger children, talks and demonstrations to highlight respect for pets, and the work of assistance dogs in the community.

Children will get to meet Miss Daisy, a gorgeous golden retriever and ambassador for Smart Pups, and hear from her handler Robi about her work as an assistance dog and the sorts of mischief she gets up to when she is not on duty.

Smart Pups Assistance Dogs is a dedicated not-for-profit organisation that specializes in providing trained service dogs to assist children with special needs.

The RSPCA will also be there, along with one of Council’s local laws officers, Jonathon Marshall, to talk about responsible dog ownership and provide some practical tips to the children on how to approach an unfamiliar dog.

First 5 Forever supports families in their role as a child’s first, most significant teachers. It is about families sharing stories and rhymes, singing, talking and playing together to create a foundation for future literacy development.
