Digital rates notices on the rise

Back

5,000 (or 16%) of Noosa’s 31,000 ratepayers will this year receive their rates notices via email. That is a 250 % increase from January 2016.

Rates notices go out next Tuesday January 17 and payment is due by Friday February 17 to ensure the early payment discount is received.

Noosa Council’s Rates and Revenue Services Manager Kellie Seeleither commented: “We are seeing more people electing to receive their rates notices via email.

“This is good because it saves Council, and therefore the community, on postage charges, in addition to being better for the environment by reducing paper and printing usage.

“However, we do understand that some ratepayers prefer to receive a physical rate notice in the mail.

“Others have just not got around to contacting Council to have it emailed yet.

“We also have multiple options for payment to make it as convenient as possible for people to pay their rates on time. These include: Bpay, online via Council’s website, over the phone on the number provided on the notice, by direct debit, at Australia Post offices and at Council’s office - either in person or by mail.”
