Fallen tree inspires upcoming Gallery workshops
An ancient Doonan tree, blown down in a storm, provides the inspiration for upcoming workshops at Noosa Regional Gallery.
Artist Anne Harris will guide participants as they imagine the ancient tree’s story, and tell it through printmaking, rubbings and sketches.
There are workshops for both children and adults. Ms Harris will have salvaged limbs from the fallen tree on hand at each workshop. She hopes these will help inspire a sense of wonder about the grand old tree, and others all around us.
“This ancient tree blew down in a storm, and our artistic exploration will be one of celebration and respect,” said Ms Harris.
“Using natural materials participants will create stories from the tree through mark-making and mapping,” said Ms Harris.
Children’s two-hour ‘Tree Place’ workshops take place 10.30am, Thursday, January 5 (seven to 11-year-olds) and 10.30am Friday, January 6 (12 – 15-year-olds). Cost is $12 per person.
Anne Harris will host a three-hour workshop for adults, 10am Saturday, January 7. Cost is $35 per person. Participants will leave with their own journal. Materials are included.
The artist is also inviting interest from artists and community groups keen to create something from the tree’s timber.
