Park upgrades finished in time for Christmas

Council is spreading Christmas cheer to kids, both in the hinterland and on the coast, this festive season, with improvements to two local parks.

Work has just finished on a new shade sail at Pomona Skate Park. Larger than the one it replaced, it now covers more of this popular park.

“This park was upgraded a little while ago,” says project officer Dallas Bickley, “as a result, it is now bigger, so we’ve increased the size of the new sail to provide better coverage.

“Pomona Skate Park is one of the more popular parks in the Shire as it caters for the hinterland kids who travel in from Kin Kin and Cooran, so it’s great to be able to finish this shade sail just in time for summer.”

Christmas has come early for the children who use Noosaville’s Wyuna Park with Council putting the finishing touches on new play equipment.

The upgrade includes two new slides - both a tunnel slide and a spiral one - plus monkey bars, see-saw, double swing, and a track glide, or flying fox.

“The new park will be finished this week,” says Mr Bickley. “With new features, and a new beach colour scheme, it is sure to be a hit with the local kids.”
