Support for Noosa's small businesses

Council has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Small Business Solutions Program (SBS) to help the Shire’s 7000-plus small businesses grow and prosper.

The Small Business Solutions Program links small businesses with qualified mentors and vocational education.

It can help participants achieve a Certificate IV in Small Business Management or take part in Building Better Business or Building Entrepreneurial Skills workshops through low-cost mentoring and training.

The Small Business Solutions Program is a government-subsidised Queensland-wide skills development program, overseen by TAFE.

SBS Department Head John Hebrard said: “We need to keep up with the demands placed on small business, particularly in the areas of innovation and entrepreneurialism.

“To achieve these goals we have introduced two new nationally accredited modules – Innovation and Entrepreneurism.

Rod Richards from Small Business Solutions said: “We try to take a snapshot of a business before we set about helping the people involved. This helps to identify main areas to target in training.”

Mayor Tony Wellington said: “Council is pleased to work with the Small Business Solutions Program and promote the quality government-subsidised training it offers Noosa’s small businesses.”

“Access to this program will help local small business operators improve the way they do business, grow their businesses and pursue new initiatives,” he said.
