Get-together for Noosa community groups

Noosa Council presents a night of catching up for community groups at the Grants, Network and Nibbles night to be held 6-8pm, Thursday 14 July at The J.

The night will bring community groups together with organisations such as Noosa Council, Unitywater, Cooroy Rag, Noosa FM, Queensland Sport and Rec, June Canavan Foundation, University of the Sunshine Coast, and the Gambling Community Benefit Fund to talk funding, infrastructure and support.

Community Development Coordinator Alison Hamblin said Council hoped this could become a regular event.

“We think it’s a great opportunity for those community groups that need help, to meet organisations that can give that help,” she said.

“And it’ll be nice for those great volunteers who give their time to help community groups to meet up, talk shop and to have a laugh. We’re really looking forward to it.”

A collection of supportive organisations have been hand-picked from around the area because of their dedication to helping the community.

“The organisations will each speak for five minutes about the help they can offer, and then everyone will get a chance to mingle and see how they can work together,” Alison said.

“We hope to get as many groups there as possible so that there’s a real chance that great things will happen.”
