Boardwalk detour in place while lifeguard tower roof replaced
Council will close part of the Main Beach boardwalk and establish a detour for several days in July so contractors can replace the Main Beach lifeguard tower’s rusty roof.
Noosa Council Facility Officer Ian Pearce said contractors planned to start work on the lifeguard tower, near the surf club, on July 18.
“Weather permitting the work will be completed within three days,” he said.
Council will establish a detour around the tower, through the surf club car park.
“The boardwalk will be closed off with temporary fencing and barriers while the work is under way,” Mr Pearce said.
“Over the years the salt spray from the ocean has corroded the roof sheets so they’re in need of replacing.
“Council appreciates residents’ and visitors’ patience while the work is carried out.”
