Cash for projects and events in grants 'revamp'
Noosa Council has approved more than $93,000 in one-off grants for 18 community projects in the recent half-yearly round of applications.
In addition, Council will distribute $47,500 annually, for three years, in support of five significant local community events.
Council is delivering the Community Projects Grants and Signature Event Grants through its revamped Community Grants Program.
This round of Community Projects Grants provides a cash boost of between $900 and $15,000 for a wide range of social, arts, cultural, sporting and environment projects.
It includes $15,000 for Noosa District Rugby Union Club to upgrade its field lights, just over $6000 for the Pomona Men’s Shed, $5000 for the Noosa International Film Festival, $2000 toward a sewing machine for the Boomerang Bags initiative, and $13,500 for the Tait Duke Community Cottage project.
Over $8000 is going toward the Kin Kin Tennis Club’s court upgrade and $2500 for Noosa Yacht and Rowing Club to deliver its Sailability Noosa initiative.
This year marks the introduction of a brand new grants program - Signature Event Grants – which provide three-year recurrent funding to support some of our well-known and successful local events.
The Festival of Water, the Noosa Show, Noosa Long Weekend Festival, King of the Mountain, and Booin Gari cultural event will each receive funding for three years.
