Council to auction 20 years' worth of surplus goods at quarry
Old bridge timbers, sand dredging pipes, bus shelter parts and pavers from streetscape upgrades are among the goods to go under the hammer at Noosa Council’s Quarry Auction on Saturday, July 9 at Ringtail Quarry.
“These surplus items have been accumulating for 20 years, and it is time for them to go,” said Council’s Technical Officer Cameron Shields.
“We’ve had an amazing amount of interest already with reports of people travelling from as far afield as Melbourne to see what bargains they can pick up,” he said.
A professional auctioneer will oversee the auction, where a wide range of items will go under the hammer.
The auction will begin at 9.30am, and continue through the morning. Council will provide a BBQ to keep bidders and observers fed and hydrated.
BBQ proceeds will support SurfAid, a charity that aims to help people living in remote coastal communities.
Members of the public can view the items the day before, Friday July 8, between 10am and 12noon, at a special pre-auction Open Day at Ringtail Quarry, Ringtail Creek Road, off McKinnon Drive.
