Downpour activates disaster co-ordination
4 June 2016 - 8.45am
Local Disaster Co-ordinator, Martin Drydale has advised that as a response to the heavy rainfall experienced overnight and predictions of more heavy rainfall today, the disaster coordination centre has been activated.
Some parts of the Noosa Shire have received between 50-100ml of rain overnight, with the Bureau of Meteorology advising more rain today and increasing winds with gusts expected at up to 90km/h.
The Bureau of Meteorology is also reporting abnormally high tides will be experienced this evening and tomorrow.
While there are currently no road closures in place in Noosa, there have been reports of water over the road in some areas.
Crews are ready and available to respond to any requests for assistance.
In life threatening situations call Triple Zero (000) and for emergency assistance from SES call 132 500.
“Motorists are reminded when entering flooded areas to avoid flooded roads. Do not cross a flooded road.
If it’s flooded – forget it.”
Council’s Facebook site at www.facebook.com/noosacouncil will be updated regularly with information about road closures.
Listen to local radio for regular updates about conditions and log on to the Bureau of Meteorology website for weather warnings.
