Four keen photographers' love of Noosa’s waterways has won them a prize!

Noosa Council and Unitywater have named four winners in this year’s Connect to Your Creek Week photography competition, with a new online video showcasing the entries launched today.

“We received more than 50 colourful photographs that capture the many ways people connect with our picturesque local waterways,” says Noosa Council Environment Officer Jan Maddin.

The winners, drawn at random, were:

  • Julie for her pic of business colleagues enjoying a drink against a Noosa River backdrop.
  • Brett for sharing one of his favourite places in Noosa – Lake Cooroibah.
  • Lesley’s photo of fun times at Lake Cootharaba.
  • Monkeith for his breathtaking Noosa River sunset.

The competition, held during the Healthy Waterways Connect to Your Creek Week celebrates the many ways people interact with their local waterways.

Unitywater spokeswoman Kate Cash said the competition was a reminder that healthy waterways are vital for healthy communities.

An online video compilation of the entries is on Unitywater’s Facebook page and YouTube page

“This unique video creatively captures the many ways we relate with our waterways, and it’s been a pleasure to watch it come to life with contributions from residents,” Ms Cash said.

Connect to Your Creek Week promotes community stewardship with regards to our waterways and it encourages South East Queenslanders to show how much they value them.

Ms Maddin said winners would enjoy prizes from local businesses including the Discovery Group, Malu Os, Kayak Noosa and Noosa Landcare.

They include a half day Noosa Everglades tour for two people, a full day on an Electric Boat, an Eco Explore Kayak Tour for two and a $30 native plant voucher.
