New wheels for local SES
Noosa State Emergency Service (SES) volunteers are now better equipped to respond to disaster situations with a new $70,000 vehicle from Noosa Council.
Local SES Controller Stan Ryan took receipt of the new Toyota Landcruiser Troop Carrier on Monday. It will replace a council-supplied vehicle that has been in operation for almost a decade.
Council bought and fitted out the new vehicle with the help of a $15,000 state emergency subsidy.
“This new vehicle will support our local SES personnel in the vital work they perform during times of emergency. We are very pleased to be able to assist them,” Mayor Tony Wellington said.
Former Noosa Mayor and Deputy Mayor Bob Abbot – a long-time chair of Noosa’s Local Disaster Management Group – was on hand at a special handover on Monday night to provide the SES with the keys to the new vehicle.
SES Controller Stan Ryan said the vehicle was a welcome addition to the local SES groups’ equipment.
