The Electoral Commission of Queensland (ECQ) has declared the Noosa Council election poll, confirming Tony Wellington as Noosa’s new mayor, to be sworn in next week.

Returning councillors Joe Jurisevic, Frank Pardon and Frank Wilkie join newcomers Jess Glasgow and Ingrid Jackson and former Noosa councillor Brian Stockwell.

Noosa Council CEO Brett de Chastel said the new council would be sworn in on Tuesday, April 5, at Noosa Council’s Tewantin chambers, ahead of the new council’s first meeting.

“The ceremony will start at 9.30am and members of the public are welcome to come along and observe,” Mr de Chastel said.

“The new council will elect a deputy mayor and vote on several housekeeping matters, required by law, at the Post-Election Meeting to follow the Declaration of Office Ceremony. The Post-Election Meeting, at 11am, is also open to the public.”
