Council’s #NoosaConnects event will link business owners with financial grant and business support programs to grow their businesses.

Representatives from more than 10 grant and support programs will be on hand to talk to business owners at the March 16 event, including Jeff Ayton from local firm Osler Technology, which was  awarded  a $1M AusIndustry Accelerating Commercialisation grant last year.

Keith Steele, a Commercialisation Advisor from AusIndustry who supported Osler in securing its grant, will also be attending the event to offer advice.

“There are lots of resources businesses can access whether for a new start-up or for those businesses looking to expand or innovate - they aren’t out on their own,” says Council’s senior economic development officer Carolyn Bullen.

“The Noosa Connects event will not only provide valuable information about the resources available, it will provide networking opportunities for knowledge sharing and collaborating.

“Any business owner looking for a boost should attend. Hearing Jeff Ayton’s story will also be helpful for any business owner keen to tap into government funding.”

Osler Technology will use its grant to commercialise its Clinical Performance Platform – a mobile-enabled and cloud-based application designed to improve medical professionals’ clinical performance. The grant money is also helping the local company accelerate development, build a local team, release the platform to commercial customers and expand internationally.

“The $1M we secured has allowed Osler to double the capital we can inject into the business.  This is a unique opportunity available to Australian start-ups from the Federal Government,” Mr Ayton said.

Ms Bullen said: “Other local businesses may be able to harness similar funds, the key is knowing what grants exist and how to apply for them, and that’s where Council’s #NoosaConnects event will help.”

#NoosaConnects is a free networking and information event to connect local business people with support services and programs to grow their businesses.

Council has partnered with Chamber of Commerce and Industry Queensland (CCIQ) and the Queensland Department of State Development to deliver the event themed ‘innovation and entrepreneurship’.
