Art exhibition puts squeeze on teachers
Noosa Regional gallery unveils two new exhibitions this month – Squeeze and Painting with Light.
Squeeze showcases the work of more than 30 art teachers and lecturers in an exploration of ‘green’.
The exhibition includes a diverse array of paintings, ceramics, photography and prints.
In Painting with Light local artist Mia Hacker combines her love of painting, drawing and photography to turn everyday scenes and common objects into abstract visual statements.
“Light creates shadows, reflections and movements that can trick the eye into thinking certain things are something completely different,” says Noosa Regional Gallery Director Nina Shadforth.
Both exhibitions run from 10 December 2015 to 31 January 2016, with an official opening on 12 December from 2pm.
Guest speakers for the Squeeze opening include Dr Susan Davis of CQ University and Mary Coverdale, Assistant Regional Director, North Coast Region, Department of Education and Training.
Brisbane-born Pomona artist Karen Finzel, whose work was featured at this year’s Floating Land Festival, will speak at the Painting with Light exhibition opening.
