Children's art boost, on the Haus
Noosa Regional Gallery is taking bookings for next year's children’s after-school art program, made possible with the support of not-for-profit concert group Hausmusik.
The gallery yesterday held its end-of-term celebration for the latest group of students to complete the program.
“It’s always fantastic to see the artworks the kids produce,” Noosa Regional Gallery Director Nina Shadforth says.
“Some of them have exceptional artistic ability and they thrive in this program. They’ll grasp complex artistic concepts and carry them through their own work.”
The end-of-term celebration included a mini exhibition of students’ work.
“Working with a facilitator – be it an experienced art teacher, or an artist with an education background – students examine all sorts of styles of art, view current gallery exhibitions and apply what they’ve learned to practical tasks,” Ms Shadforth says.
“It’s lovely to see how they recognise within the exhibitions, ideas of what each artist has been trying to communicate and then convey that in their own work.”
The afternoon tea and exhibition also served as a ‘thank-you’ to not-for-profit Hausmusik for financially supporting the program.
Hausmusik holds informal and accessible classical music concerts that promote music appreciation. Surplus funds raised help support local charities and causes.
President Hans-Georg Wimmer says Hausmusik is delighted to support the Gallery’s children’s program.
“I am convinced that the future of our fine arts is only guaranteed by the excitement and passion that we all instigate in children,” he says.
“Therefore the Noosa Regional Gallery’s children's program is a winner in every aspect.”
Ms Shadforth adds: “The gallery humbly acknowledges the generosity of Hausmusik.”
