The 2016 Noosa Art Award is open for entries. Now in its second year, the Noosa Art Award celebrates contemporary works which reflect the unique character of modern Australia’s coastal or hinterland environments - urban or natural.

The winner of the Noosa Art Award will receive a  $10,000 prize and the winner of the People’s Choice will receive a $1000 prize sponsored by the Friends, Noosa Regional Gallery.

The award is open to Australian artists and designers and entries can either be in a 2D or 3D medium.

Nina Shadforth, Director of Noosa Regional Gallery said: “The 2015 inaugural Noosa Art Award received over 170 high quality entries, a very good result for a new award.

“This year we are very excited at the prospect of an increase in the number and calibre of entries and we look forward to unveiling the exhibition of shortlisted works in May 2016.”

Louise Martin-Chew, former Editorial Manager of Art and Australia Journal, arts writer, editor and contributor to The Australian newspaper for over 20 years, will be judging the award.

Entries close January 31, 2016 with the winner announced on 7 May, 2016. The winning entry will be acquired into the Noosa Council corporate art collection.
