School activity books spread disaster-ready message

Noosa Council and Red Cross have teamed up to ensure local school children are better prepared if disaster strikes.

The two organisations have been distributing Get Ready activity books to year 3 students at schools across Noosa Shire.

Noosa’s Local Disaster Coordinator, Martin Drydale, said: “These activity books have been specifically designed to appeal to children, while teaching them how they and their families can prepare for the types of disasters we are likely to experience in Noosa.

“It’s important that everyone has an emergency plan and the RACQ Get Ready campaign reminds us all that the storm and cyclone season is upon us,” Mr Drydale said.

500 students have received the books thanks to funding from the RACQ Get Ready program and the partnership between Red Cross and Noosa Council.
