Robot to gain a name as Library heads for the Show!
Noosa Library’s new walking, talking humanoid robot is about to gain a name!
Programs officer Liz Bleechmore says the Library has received more than 50 entries in the NAO Robot naming competition.
Staff will announce the new moniker at 11am Friday, following a robot demonstration session at the Noosa Country Show.
The Noosa Mobile Library has hit the road for Pomona and will be open both days of the Show – Friday and Saturday, 11-12 September.
Ms Bleechmore said showgoers were welcome to stop by the mobile library and take time out to read and relax in the air conditioning and use the free Wi-Fi.
“The mobile library will be open from 10.30am to 3pm both days,” Ms Bleechmore said.
“Everyone is welcome to join us on Friday for story time with the new NAO Robot between 10 and 11am. It’s a great opportunity to see what the little robot can do,” she said.
“We’ll also have the Roving Instagram Booth up and running, complete with props so you can post colourful pictures on Instagram. Tag @NoosaLibraryService for your chance to win.
“Showgoers can test their I-spy observation skills too – spot all the items on the list and drop the completed list into the entry box to enter the random-draw for a host of cool prizes.”
Library staff will also announce the winner of the Pixels Movie Colour-In competition at 2pm, Friday.
“Colour in your entry and drop it in the box before 2pm to go in the draw to win one of three movie prizes,” Ms Bleechmore said.
“Enjoy some downtime and take a break on the library’s story mat where families will find familiar storybooks, the library’s kids RAW magazine, other magazines and newspapers and iPads to access our e-library.”
