Additional funds for Noosa's War Front project
Noosa's World War I stories will reach a global audience care of a $10,000 State Library of Queensland grant.
The grant will allow Noosa Library Service to publish the Noosa’s War Front project on historical website site Historypin.
Noosa Council Library Service Heritage Librarian Jane Harding said the Noosa’s War Front project aimed to capture what war was like for the Noosa community, and Library staff had been busy collecting local stories.
“Adding these stories and images to Historypin will open them up to a broader worldwide audience and create a digital legacy for future generations,” Ms Harding says.
“It will ensure they can gain a greater understanding of the local and Queensland experience of the First World War.”
Historypin is a way for millions of people to come together to share glimpses of the past and add to the story of human history. The platform allows users to explore and contribute photos, video and audio.
The grant has been allocated to help communities build a digital memorial of Queensland’s experience of the First World War. It is funded by the Queensland Government through the State Library of Queensland’s four year legacy project Q ANZAC 100: Memories for a New Generation.
