New chapter for Cooroy Library café
Council has appointed United Synergies to run the Cooroy Library café service from July in an arrangement set to deliver workplace training opportunities for local young people.
United Synergies will recruit young people facing barriers to employment and equip them with hospitality skills through on-the-job training.
Council called for tenders in April with the aim of sourcing an operator to deliver not only a coffee and café service but additional social benefits.
“United Synergies has a solid track record of providing high-value services for young people facing disadvantage,” Cr Tony Wellington said.
"This arrangement will allow some of our younger citizens to receive valuable workplace experience and training. United Synergies performs fantastic work helping people in need. There can be no doubt that United Synergies has a positive impact on the overall wellbeing of our community."
The library has been running the café in-house since the former operator finished in 2013.
Council awarded the contract to United Synergies at last night’s Ordinary Meeting.
