Noosa Mayor Noel Playford has welcomed the Queensland Audit Office’s findings on the cost of Noosa’s deamalgamation.

The Audit Office has reported to Queensland Parliament that the one-off costs were $4.357 million.

“This compares favourably with the one-off costs for the other smaller deamalgamated councils,” Cr Playford said.

The one-off costs for Livingstone were $7 million, Mareeba $4.9 million, and Douglas $3.2 million.

Noosa Council last year also asked the Queensland Treasury Corporation to undertake a formal credit review of the Council.

“The assessment will be discussed with Council shortly, and we will then release the results of that financial assessment to our community.”
