Focus group to help shape local economic plan
Noosa Council is calling for expressions of interest from residents keen to participate in a project focus group that will help shape a new economic plan for the shire.
Council will be undertaking community consultation to generate ideas for developing Noosa’s Local Economic Plan and the Project Focus Group will review the ideas coming from the consultation process.
Council’s Economic Development Officer Carolyn Bullen says focus group members will be encouraged to draw on their personal experience in business to test concepts and ideas and help to identify the most appropriate approach to economic development for Noosa.
“Previous economic strategies have primarily supported established industries such as tourism and retail. Supporting new and emerging industries that add diversity to our local economy will be a key aim of the new economic plan,” Ms Bullen said.
Council will appoint 8 to 12 members to the Noosa Shire Local Economic Plan Project Focus Group, which will meet for the first time in May.
“The closing date for expressions of interest to join the Local Economic Plan Project Focus Group is 7 May, 2015,” Ms Bullen said.
“This is a great opportunity for local business people and other members of the community to make a lasting contribution to the shire’s future economic strength.”
For those who would like to express an interest in participating in the Project Focus Group, forms can be collected from Council, or downloaded from the Business and Economy section of Council’s website at www.noosa.qld.gov.au . Completed forms can be submitted via email to mail@noosa.qld.gov.au or by post to PO Box 141, Tewantin QLD 4565, or in person at 9 Pelican Street, Tewantin.
