Walter Hay Drive to close for resurfacing
Walter Hay Drive will be closed to through-traffic from 5 March while Council resurfaces the road.
Noosa Council Civil Operations Manager Allan Hull said the project would take six weeks and traffic heading to and from Emu Mountain Road and the Sunshine Motorway would be diverted along Eumundi-Noosa Road.
“So we can complete this work as quickly as possible, and to achieve the best results, the preferred option is to close Walter Hay Drive,” Mr Hull said.
“Southbound motorists will still be able to access Noosa Civic shopping centre via the Walter Hay Drive entrance, except for a period of three days when access will be via Hofmann Drive only.”
Council will install variable message boards to advise motorists of the road closures and traffic control will be in place to manage traffic flow at various roundabouts on an as-needed basis.
“We appreciate drivers' patience while we complete these works,” Mr Hull said.
“We hope to have it all finished by 9 April, weather permitting. It may be that work is completed even earlier, before the Easter break.
“Regardless, we will ensure Walter Hay Drive is open to the public during the Easter period from 2 April to 6 April.”
