Quarry operator fined

Noosa Council has commenced breach action against a Kin Kin quarry operator.

Council has issued the operator with an $11,385 fine for failing to comply with the development approval and conditions for the quarry.

Councillors on Thursday endorsed a recommendation to issue the infringement notice under the State Penalties Enforcement Regulation 2014 provisions.

“Noosa Council, through its solicitor, has written to the operator seeking an assurance that unlawful works will not continue,” Noosa Council Chief Executive Officer Brett de Chastel said.

“Failing which, proceedings will be issued for enforcement orders and costs in the Planning and Environment Court without further notice.“

Mr de Chastel said the community should rest assured Council was taking its concerns in relation to the quarry seriously.
