Noosa Regional Gallery to host Judy Watson exhibition

Noosa Regional Gallery presents a suite of three exhibitions by contemporary Indigenous Australian artist Judy Watson, Aboriginal descendant of the Waanyi people of north-west Queensland.

Nationally and internationally acclaimed Australian artist Judy Watsons works are innovative and intriguing.

Her work is inspired by the land and traditions of the Waanyi culture, Watson is able to transform her abstract works into powerful contemporary messages understood by all.

Heron island suite: is a major series of etchings by Judy Watson from a residency in 2009 where was appointed Artist-In-Residence at the University of QLD's Heron Island Research Station.

Sacred ground, beating heart: is a series of drawings and prints that reference the artist's travels around Australia, overseas and her identity as an Aboriginal woman.

Experimental beds: A series of etchings from a residency in 2009 at the University of Virginia, responding to the architectural drawings of author Thomas Jefferson and the exclusion of enslaved African American rights in the 1776 American Declaration of Independence.
